Pattern Tour E30-5918, 1931 Evening Frock

Alexandra Reynolds 1930s EvaDress Patterns evening evening gown Pattern Tour

E30-5918, 1931 Evening Frock

4-piece pattern originally by Pictorial Review; From its twisted shoulder straps to floor-length skirt, this gown is as regal as can be. The shaped décolletage, the beautifully manipulated pointed seams and the fullness at center, front and back all give this petite design the appearance of height.

This pattern is for the more advanced sewer as instructions are very basic and lightly illustrated, they are not depicted in a step-by-step manner.

Recommended fabrics are: Silk or rayon crepe, satin or sheers, such as georgette or heavy chiffon, metallic or lace.
3/8" seams are given.

Sizes:
Size set A fitting 14-1/2-20-1/2 (32-1/2" to 38-1/2" bust, 27" to 33" waist, 36" to 42" hip).

Size set B fitting 40-1/2-46-1/2 (40-1/2" to 46-1/2" bust, 35" to 41" waist, 44" to 50" hip).

This pattern advises the skirt may be cut with the straight of grain or on bias. I recommend cutting it with the grain (as in the photos gown) since so much of it lays on the bias, as it is.
