Acc40-1246; 1946 Fabric Flowers

17-piece digitally-drafted pattern originally by McCall, ‘Style news!  Make your own gay flowers to match your dress, a blouse, a beret and belt, for that expensify-ing touch to a “well-turned-out” costume.  See what you can do with a few pieces of dress material, a few stitches, a bit of pasting, a little stiffening and, lo!  A flower is fashioned!  You can do it too!  A variety of smart fabrics may be used for these fashion-wise flowers.  The handmade fabric flowers to match your dress are shown in the color illustration, as follows: Rose A is shown in seersucker with percale leaves.  Rose B is shown in percale with ready-made leaves.  Rose C is shown in velvet.  Rose D is shown in pink satin with aqua taffeta.  Rose E is shown in rayon taffeta with 2 velvet leaves.  Daisy F is shown in printed gingham with ready-made leaves.  Mum G is shown in linen with chintz leaves and Magnolia H is shown in linen.  Scraps or old garments are often usable in flower making.’

A method of stiffening material to give the flowers that “professional look” is also given.
