EvaDress 'Hollywood is Calling!' Pattern Challenge

Alexandra Reynolds 1860's 1870's 1880's 1910s 1920s 1930s 1940s 1950s 1960's EvaDress Pattern Challenge EvaDress Patterns

As explored by Brian Centrone in his article ‘Starstruck Sewing’ for Threads Magazine (current issue #208, April/May 2020): During the Great Depression, commercial pattern makers marketed designs inspired by the attire stars wore and line-for-line copies of clothing designs right from the silver screen.

This is a sewing pattern challenge to use any EvaDress pattern(s) to create your favorite men’s or women’s garment(s) that are line-for-line copies of costuming, as seen in film or garments inspired by a film costuming piece or a piece worn by an actor/actress off-screen through 1959. Accessories (hats, bags, etc.) are not counted as an individual project, but may accompany garments in a submission.
Channel Miss Fisher with a 1920's pattern, arm yourself like you're Lauren Bacall in a sleek 1940's design or tap into your Brigitte Bardot in a 50's halter-there are limitless possibilities!!

Projects may not be started earlier than 12:01 a.m. EST (10:01 a.m. MST) on April 12, 2020 although a muslin for fitting may be created any time before the challenge kick-off date. No purchase necessary to enter, so EvaDress patterns from stash are fair game! The closing date to submit projects is 11:59 p.m. EST (9:59 p.m. MST) on July 12, 2020.

The better the garment is fit, the higher consideration for placing as a finalist.

Depending on the number of entries, a few finalists will be selected based on quality of construction (construction detail shots are a must), accuracy to the challenge guidelines and overall design and creativity.
One top finalist will receive a $100 non-expiring gift certificate good toward total purchase (with tax and/or shipping) at EvaDress Patterns.

Brian Centrone will join the challenge as a guest juror! See him here on Instagram @BrianCentrone.

Projects submitted to other group pattern challenges are welcome, provided they are made with EvaDress Patterns and otherwise fit into the challenge parameters and time frame stated here.
The top finalist will be notified on the event wall by 11:59 p.m. EST, June 15, 2020.

NOTE: By entering this challenge you agree that your submission photos/descriptions may be used in the gallery on the EvaDress web site or elsewhere as promotional material (including print) for EvaDress.

Once you are a part of this group, you can enter by posting your main photo on this page. Add subsequent high quality project photos (longest edge of photo to be 11” and at least 150dpi) including front, back, side views and construction/design details in the comments section under your main photo. Be sure to write what pattern you used, why you chose the project you did and a still of the inspiration for your project (if possible). I am happy to post submissions for those who do not use FaceBook. Submissions for non-FaceBook users may be sent via e-mail (evadressATcableone.net) containing photos and description, as outlined above.

Feel free to e-mail me with questions. Questions may also be posted here or on my Facebook EvaDress Patterns wall.
This challenge is void where prohibited.

How do I start? (I would very much like to do something in the 40’s, my most preferate era).
    A Million thanks!
