EvaDress Mood Board Pattern Challenge

Mood boards are so inspiring when it comes to 'conspiring' sewing plans! They may evolve and change as one’s work continues. This is a board I started the summer of ’19 which I recently updated. I originally worked off a palette of reds, black and white of a Japanese sensibility. This last spring, I began to expand the color palette while still hanging on to the Japanese thread for instance, the colorful feed-sack style fabric Japanese print dress (top left). I have drawn connections to projects I have since completed with a shot of a project in progress (the red...

Finalist of the EvaDress Patterns 'Hollywood is Calling' Challenge!

Congratulations to Heide for her entry as the finalist in the EvaDress 'Hollywood is Calling' Pattern Challenge! Her pink tulle dress is an amazing piece she created inspired by Doris Day in the 1953 production of 'Lullaby of Broadway'! As her sister posted on her behalf: 'Heide used the E50-9509 1953 Evening Gown Pattern. Three colors of tulle and handmade flowers. Heide took vintage couture inspiration and added a boned corselette.' Accessories (hats, bags, etc.) are not counted as an...

Finalist of the EvaDress Patterns 'It's the 20's Again' Challenge!

It is ALWAYS tough to evaluate the entries in any EvaDress Patterns Challenge. Heide from Wisonsin has the finalist spot in the EvaDress Patterns 'It's the 20's Again' Challenge. Congratulations, Heide! Heide had the 1929 Ensemble pattern in her stash. Enamoured of the blouse in that set, she was motivated to make it come to life (in blush sanded silk) once she learned of this challenge. She also had blue wool blend suiting on hand from which she made the skirt and coat. She also fashioned a cloche-style hat from the suiting and a floral-print scarf of great length for grand effect!
