Pattern Tour E30-2102, 1930 Dinner Gown

A frock with a little of everything from its uneven hem full of godets to beaded straps!  I designed this pattern based on the color rendering originally sketched by a pattern company artist at a runway show in 1930.  The caption written on the original reads:'Dinner Gown of shaded pale green tulle, combined with lace, edged with pearls.  Chic Model, N.Y. Hollywood’. This pattern is for the more advanced sewer as instructions are very basic and lightly illustrated, they are not depicted in a step-by-step manner. 3/8" seams are given. Sizes: Size set A fits 12-16 (30" to 34" bust, 24" to 28" waist,...

Pattern Tour E30-744, 1930's Dinner Gown & Cape

This 5-piece pattern is for the dinner gown with incorporated cape via buttonhole at the front of the bust. Strongly resembles the velvet gown Cate Blanchett wears in the latest Noir film, Nightmare Alley! Fullness is provided for the bust with double darts and cinching at the center front where the cape threads through.  A line of elastic is sewn into the upper edge of the un-structured bodice back to hold it in place.  The cape may be worn on or off the shoulders and a godet adds fullness to the otherwise close-fitting bias skirt. Suggested fabrics for this design are:...

Pattern Tour D30-5156, 1933 Katharine Hepburn Ensemble

This 11-piece pattern originally by Butterick is a very scarce pattern for Howard Greer's design for a costume as worn by Miss Hepburn in an R.K.O. Radio Picture', being her first starring role in 'Christopher Strong'.    The ensemble consists of the pleated hat, one-piece dress and jacket with long or short cut-away sleeves and attached scarf that laps over the front to close the jacket with buttons. 3/4" seams are given at underarm (all side) seams and 3/8" seams are given on all other edges. The center back seam of the jacket lay on true bias, so plaid or...
