This week's 'patterning' was sewing some finish details on the 1929 jacket from pattern SE20-5955 (click images for larger view): This lightweight version of the coat is in the shorter length from a plaid blend (thrift find). As shown below, a 'kit of parts' for facing the sleeves and lower hem of the jacket (since only a 1" hem was allowed in the original pattern). I gave a 2" finished hem in the jacket by applying a hem facing rather than lengthen the front and back piece to turn a 2" hem (for lack of enough fabric). (I'll drop the lining in and post photos...

A bittersweet week, this one. I happily have to offer the 1942 Two-Piece Dress pattern from 32" to 46" bust. A generous customer in Maryland sent it to me so it could be available in the collection! This week's board comes late. I was out of town by week's end to bond a special needs rabbit with my single Teddy. There is a patterning connection to rabbit rescue in a piece of work I am doing for Tranquility Trails Animal Sanctuary in Scottsdale, AZ. Flat Bonnie (.com) created the likeness of Fred, a rescue bun at TTAS who died of cancer last fall. He...

I presented a trunk show to the Prescott American Sewing Guild yesterday with great success! I took the group through my process of creating single and multi-size patterns from vintage originals and had plenty of garments to show and tell. I have a .pdf version of my presentation available here for you to enjoy. It is a condensed and slightly edited version as the ASG paid me to do this for them. More patterning progress to share in next week's storyboard!

Having launched the new site, I am still adding content to the 1800's/early 1900's and original vintage pattern collections. Some fine-tuning will be done here and there as well into the next week at least. As well, time has gone into re-populating the previous blog address with images per my new ip. This too, will consume much time in the next weeks. I do not have as much to share as hoped, but a sneak peek on my 1935 summer dress progress from this week with the finished result ready to post next week-hopefully, the belt buckle arrives from...
