In constant effort to keep pattern prices down, I eliminated two of the 16 pieces this original McCall pattern had.  Since the long and short sleeve pieces were identically shaped, I  superimposed the two sleeve styles so my version has 14 pieces (thus, reducing paper and ink cost). For as much wearing ease in this style, McCall did some clever moves to shape and fit the design in an overall flattering manner.  Using a curved shoulder yoke piece at the front allows soft gathering of the bodice front over the bust.  The omission of darts keeps the kimono style very...

This is the second of two new multi-size patterns in honor of my Flirty 50's Pattern Challenge, the 1953 Evening Dress: A small pleat is taken in each side of the center front skirt piece and the pleat is then lapped over each skirt front/skirt side front seam to create the box-pleats.  The same process is done with respect to the skirt back. As promised last week, size set B fitting 40" to 46" bust (also with dress & jacket, or dress as a separate) in the 1950's Sarong & Bolero pattern is up and ready to go! I presented my patterning process to a small sewing group last Monday in Phoenix.  The temperature there warranted wearing the 1935 Halter Beach Dress and it was comfy and cool!

Spent this week 'wrapping up' the sarong dress & bolero originally by Butterick.  This was sent to me by a customer who has graciously offered to make available from my collection.     As shown above, I offer this one with or without the bolero.
