The EvaDress Fitting 40's Pattern Challenge Finalist!
Alexandra ReynoldsWe had some stellar submissions for this challenge and it was Nicole's 1949 Butterick Suit Dress that took the finalist spot! She conveyed how meaningful this project is to her by telling us about using her favorite buttons from her grandmother which she waited YEARS to do! Nicole also added that she stitched hair canvas into the pockets and fronts of the jacket-a step the original instructions did not necessarily advise. That was a good move as you can see in her pocket detail photo! Her hat and shoes are vintage accessories she already owned and yet, she found this...

EvaDress Patterns The Week in Patterning Storyboard Vintage Patterns
Alexandra ReynoldsI presented a trunk show to the Prescott American Sewing Guild yesterday with great success! I took the group through my process of creating single and multi-size patterns from vintage originals and had plenty of garments to show and tell. I have a .pdf version of my presentation available here for you to enjoy. It is a condensed and slightly edited version as the ASG paid me to do this for them. More patterning progress to share in next week's storyboard!

EvaDress Patterns How To My Personal Dressmaking The Week in Patterning Storyboard
Alexandra ReynoldsA little flashback to a digital file for the back of the blouse in my next multi-size pattern, the two-piece dress. It shows basic values I set up when creating a range from the original size of the pattern, here 32" bust: I mentioned last week the trunk show I will put on for our local American Sewing Guild chapter June 4. The digital version will slightly vary from the live demonstration, but should prove informative for those who could not physically attend. I am working away on the...

EvaDress Patterns My Personal Dressmaking The Week in Patterning Storyboard
Alexandra ReynoldsThe 1869 bustle dress project came to a close with the completed ensemble as I wore it to our volunteer group 'Pick-Nick' to honor the 100th birthday of our Fort Whipple. On the boards now, I prepare for a trunk show I will put on for our local American Sewing Guild chapter June 4. I will demonstrate my pattern line in a very 'making-ness' sense. I will highlight a technical construction aspect to each design I present in finished garments from the patterns. A sneak peek at my Power Point presentation:

Alexandra ReynoldsI hit right at the belt and below it in the 1869 skirt this week. Our living history group at Sharlot Hall Museum of which I am a part, will hold a 'pick-nick' Saturday the 21st. I will wear the 1869 Costume I have been creating from my Victorian series of pattern (in conjunction with The Barrington House) since the beginning of this year. I expect to have complete photos of the complete 'costume' to share in next week's storyboard!
